Ready to hit the road

I’m sure you have all been onto our website http://www.saroadtrip.com anticipating reading about our adventures to date, only to find the website has not been updated….apologies for this, but we have been unable to connect until now…so I will be uploading blog and recommendations on places to stay, in the next day or two.  John has taken pics so will add those as well.

So, we are on our way, at last…..not without challenges I might ad…but hey who on earth said it would be easygoing….LOL.

We left Cape Town round midday on the 20 December 2012,our original plan was to stay over in a place called Seweweekspoort.  We hit the highway out of Cape Town, on the N2.   Campervan going well, until we headed up Sir Lowry’s Pass, then all of a sudden the temperature gauge on the dashboard hit red and started beeping like mad….OMG, now what!!!!!  We switched off the engine, restarted and it had reset itself.   Slowly, slowly up the hill we went and again it beeped at us.  This time, John pulled over and called John at Vista Homes…he was quite concerned but couldn’t really assist as it was a Fiat issue.  He promised that Fiat would call us shortly which they did.   They were equally confused as to why this had happened as it is a very new vehicle, only 800kms on the clock.  Gavin from Fiat, suggested we rather head straight to George, spend the night and then visit Fiat George the next morning so they could put the campervan onto their computer to check and see if they could find out what the problem was…..so Seweweekspoort had to be put on hold for the moment.  We arrived in Klein Brak River and stayed at the Outeniqua Caravan Park….details will be posted later on the website.
